September 14th - Paris to Beaune
After breakfast, we checked out and boarded our Heidebloem bus with our driver, Hub.
The Louvre
The bus brought us to the Louvre.
Musée de l'Orangerie
Since we toured the Louvre on our last tour, we decided to tour Musée de l'Orangerie. The Museum is famous as the home for eight Water Lilies murals by Claude Monet. The museum also contains works by Cezzane, Matisse, Picasso and Renoir.
Hotel des Remparts
We arrived at Hotel Des Remparts. We gathered in the courtyard to get our room assignments. The staff took us to our rooms since it was quite a maze of stairs and hallways. We had a great room up in the attic.
Caves du Couveat des Cordeliers
We had a private wine tasting in the Caves du Couveat des Coordeliers. The dark musty caves filled with candles and wine barrels made a special place to sample their wines. The cellar guide came in on her day off just to give the tour for us because we were with a Rick Steves tour. It was a very memorable experience. Of course we bought a bottle which we saved to celebrate the New Year.
