September 17th - Lauterbrunnen Valley to Munich
We had breakfast in the hotel this morning and we were very sad to leave Switzerland.
This was one of the favorite places we visited on the trip.
An unbelievable group picture on our way out of Switzerland.
No, it's not Disneyland - it's Switzerland.
Liechtenstein
We were so excited to be able to stop for lunch in Liechtenstein. We are geocachers. Geocaching is "a worldwide treasure hunting game using a GPS". This RS tour takes you to 4 countries and so the stop in Liechtenstein added a 5th country to our list. We were lucky to find the cache and also to meet 2 cachers from the Czech Republic. The GPS comes in handy to find our way around cities too.
Ibis Hotel
Who knew we were going to be in Munich for the start of Oktoberfest?
Munich’s Oktoberfest originated in 1810 as a horse race to celebrate the royal wedding. But everyone apparently enjoyed the drinking a lot more, and had such a great time they decided to do it all again the following year. And so the tradition began.

Munich walking tour
Our hotel was a Metro ride in to Munich. Since it was the first weekend of Oktoberfest, everything was crowded, but it added to the excitement. Everywhere you went there were people dressed in Lederhosen and Dirndls, including the children.
Hofbrauhaus
A group of us had dinner together at the Hofbrauhaus. The halls were crowded with people enjoying the food, beer and music. We could hardly wait for the pretzel - the size of your head - and a giant mug of beer. This is one place that is more fun with a big group of people, so we were happy to have our tour friends to go with.
